How many of you believe that the Adam and Eve story was literally true?

I would humbly ask, what is the difference between something that is spiritually true and something that is historically true? Over the centuries the difference becomes irrelevant. In a spiritual sense we are all sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. The fruits of the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil has saddled all of the human race with all manner of opposites that coexist in our world (good/evil life/death love/hate day/night) on into infinity. So our earthly task becomes clear to pursue unity with the One Eternal God so that will rise above the dualities and enjoy eternal life in the Eternal One. I rarely quote from Gnostic Texts but this is particularly appropriate. In the Gospel of Thomas Jesus asks Thomas, "Now that you are two what are you going to do?." This is the question for all of us.
