Why do people bother to thaw out a turkey?
I was just watching a story on the news about people getting sick because they didn't properly thaw out their turkey? (Some stuff was really crazy like putting the turkey in the bathtub with their kids haha). But why do people thaw it in the first place? I've cooked Turkeys for 20 years and never thawed one out, never got sick, and the bird taste as good as one that was thawed. I saw two elderly ladies in the store the other day looking at these expensive turkeys that said "straight from freezer to oven"....I couldn't believe they were going to pay almost $1.00 more per pound for something I've done my entire life! Anyone have any good reasons why we have always been taught to thaw turkeys?
