Is it still worth keeping in touch with my recruiter?

I have set up a relationship with a recruiter for several months. During this period, I felt comfortable with him and updated my resume for a couple of times. After each update, he replied to me by email within one working day which is also a conduct standard required by his firm. Three days ago, I spotted one firm planned to open a new branch in my area. So, I asked my recruiter whether or not he could help me approach this firm at the moment. He did not reply. Then, I thought maybe my request was improper because I did not know whether the firm I desire was a client of the recruitment agency. Thus, I apologized to my recruiter by email. He did not reply as well. Now, I am confused if it is still worth trying to keep in touch with him. I feel I have not been respected.
