Your have no problem getting internet connections here. It's not the greatest but you can do your job. Only problem maybe getting a connection unless you stay at a place that has wireless. But you do have other options. So you should have no problem. A service apartment may be the best option for you they have many in your price range. As for a visa I recommend you apply for a tourist visa at the Thai Emby in the UK it's good for 60 days and you can extend it once for an additional 30 days at immigrations here in Bangkok for a total of 90 days.
